How can  past innovations in transportation show us the path to Mars?

Chris Crumbly manages the Spacecraft/Payload Integration and Evolution Office of the Space Launch System (SLS) Program.

In this capacity, he is responsible for managing the development of SLS spacecraft and payload interfaces, as well as technical innovations that will increase the performance and decrease the cost of America’s next-generation heavy-lift rocket for human and scientific exploration beyond Earth’s orbit.

Todd May - What is the next ship for exploration?

Todd May manages the Space Launch System Program office, located at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center.

Slated for its first mission in 2017, the Space Launch System will be the nation’s next heavy-lift vehicle for human and scientific exploration beyond Earth's orbit. He managed more than 100 research projects in the Science and Mission Systems Office at Marshall, and oversaw a $5 billion annual portfolio of space and Earth science missions as Deputy Associate Administrator in the Science Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters.
